It is no secret that Gravedona is one of the most beautiful cities on the coast of Lake Como. Not only because it stands out on the plain of the river Liro, on the west side of the shore of Lake Como, but also because it is has a place that still retained many historical, artistic and religious features.
Inside you can find numerous places of high historical-artistic importance, such as the medieval church of Santa Maria del Tiglio, inside which hosts numerous frescoes dated between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
The town itself is surrounded by a breathtaking landscape characterized by magnificent peaks that exceed two thousand meters in height and a perfect view of the nearby lake.
The historic center of Gravedona includes many narrow streets, as well as the steep stairways typical of medieval villages. The religious importance of Gravedona is also due to the Churches of Santa Maria delle Grazia, the Santissimi Gusmeo and Matteo, as well as the Church of San Vincenzo
To visit also the imposing Palazzo Gallio, splendid example of civil architecture, built in the distant 1580. Just outside the walls it is possible to visit or the Abbey of Piona, a typical building in the squared stone of the Comacina art, which includes numerous frescoes and pictorial cycles, while near the village it is possible to visit Dongo, the town famous for having given shelter to Mussolini during his escape.
Nature lovers can venture out to discover the Valle del Livo and the Liro torrent to discover the fabulous rural structures.
